about

Established in 2004, rednile Projects Ltd is an artist led initiative, creatively directed by artists Suzanne Hutton, Michael Branthwaite and Janine Goldsworthy. Rednile initiate collaborative projects with artists, specialists, business and communities and work in temporary venues, creating temporary projects and artworks that respond to site. rednile encourages professionalism in the arts and are committed to engaging others in the exploration and enjoyment of art. Rednile has two bases, one in North East England and the other in the West Midlands (please contact according to your region/ project).

rednile originally grew out the artists/founders' need for studio space to continue their art practice after graduation and from a realisation that by instigating their own projects they could continue their practice and work with other artists in the process.

rednile’s initial projects involved artists residencies and events open to the public and set in disused spaces in regeneration areas. rednile’s approach to art in the public realm has developed over time and their portfolio now includes the delivery of large scale public art projects that involve creative consultation and feed into public design and regeneration strategies. This has informed and developed redniles current interests of engaged public art events and permanent commissions.

rednile believes, that through engagement, individuals can begin to understand Art and its place in society and that the public should be challenged by contemporary art forms.

Internationally, rednile is seeking to collaborate and enrich its methodology with exchanges and projects that feedback into the creative dynamics of rednile projects. These include exploring sustainable arts practice in Berlin and Peru, and concept of exchange and collaboration in Thailand. Both being undertaken by Founders/Directors of rednile.

rednile has contracted and paid over 80 creative individuals in various roles and provided work placements, mentorships and opportunities to writers, photographers, designers and students.
