New Commissions / New Collaborations

Artists that attend any Factory Night in 2009-2010 had the opportunity to submit a brief proposal to rednile for help with the development of a new idea or initiation of a new collaboration inspired by a Factory Night. From this rednile worked with businesses and partner organisations for each venue to curate a dynamic programme that responded to the site and helped the development of the artists involved. All artists that attended Factory Nights event had the opportunity to showcase any artwork or any work in development at Factory Folk, a celebration exhibition event in July 2010 at the Literary and Philosophical Society, Newcastle. See also Factory Nights 2009-2010 publication in the Press and Publications section for more info. During the 2009-10 programme, rednile commissioned 33 artists to deliver projects including performances, writing, new artwork and residencies. Some of these are still under development and some of the creative ideas that were not selected as part of this series are still being supported by rednile to be delivered through other avenues of funding.
