New Commission for artist Elaine Lim Newton producing ceramic and mixed media lighting sculptures that are inspired by the original Crabtree light switches, and factory manufacturing processes.
Artists that attended the new series of Factory Nights have the opportunity to put forward ideas to be supported through the Unique Commissions Fund. This includes developing a new piece or body of work, research with a person they met at the Factory Night, research relating to their own practise, an exhibition, residency, performance, book, film etc. Factory Nights encourages collaboration across art forms and is interested in site specific or site responsive work.
Rednile artists are in the process of supporting the selected artists through this process of realising ideas, (see more info below). The aim is to develop dynamic, longer term projects that supports the artist’s development and feeds into an outcome that involves the wider community. The commissioned artists will also feature in a Factory Nights publication and will also produce a limited edition multiple linked to their commission, available on rednile’s Factory Outlet. There will be 10 unique commissions produced by a range of artists and disciplines, all responding to interesting sites, venues and places in North East and West midlands.
