Factory Nights
Third session: Friday 16 May: Rooftop football pitch YMCA, North Shields This five-story building offers a unique opportunity to experience amazing views of North Tyneside and the mouth of the river Tyne. This building was built in 1938 by the Sir James Knott Trustees to provide accommodation and financial support for the establishment of the Sir James Knott Youth Centre in North Shields. The building occupies a prominent position in North Shields town centre.
AIMS OF FACTORY NIGHTS: The programme aims to build on rednile’s relationships with business that have developed since 2005 (from initiating projects such as re:gen and Space) and aim to bring new people each area and create interest in their regeneration strategy and redevelopment. Factory Nights is also a channel for creative people to become more visible and therefore increase the opportunities for more events and build a stronger cultural community that the local authority are aware of and can potentially work with. Each venue chosen to house a Factory Night, have the enthusiasm for future creative collaboration within their spaces and want to work with artists.
