Acrylic Artwork

Flow @ The Forge student accommodation, Sunderland

Rednile artists were commissioned by Northern Developments/ U-Student developers to create bespoke artworks as part of redevelopment of Student accommodation at The Forge, University of Sunderland.

28 double layered acrylic panel wall pieces, each measuring 150x8ocm, depict fantastical landscapes of Sunderland using iconic buildings and landmarks. 15 large vinyl wall pieces, some up to 3m high, were inspired by journeys, textures and night time views of the surrounding area. The artworks were created using digital manipulation and were fabricated using vinyl and acrylic layering techniques. They aim to create a sense of flow and navigation through the buildings as they climb each floor and bring colour and life to the stairwells and landings.

rednile invited emerging artists Nicola Torrance and Charlie Burke to collaborate on the project.
